After the success of the previous Weaver Hills Fell Races we're honoured to host a round of the FRA Junior Championships, sponsored by Pete Bland Sports for 2024! Participants can return and tackle this traditional, exciting fell race, with the addition of two new routes for the Juniors.

You'll be exploring a beautiful but lesser known part of StaffordshireBased from Shawcroft Farm at Wootton thanks to Henry and the team at Daltons Dairy. These short but perfectly formed races are certainly going to to make for a fantastic Saturday afternoon.

From the farm you'll head up hill on fields and tracks before turning at the highest point, read to enjoy a fast descent all the way to the finish!

The U9 and the U11 races are both new routes over the fields, with a 'BS' amount of elevation.

The U13 route will involve some scrambling up the side of Weaver Hill, and is also a 'BS' cateogory race.

The U15/U17/U19 and the Senior Race all follow the original 'AS' route and include the “route choice” full ascent of Weaver Hill to the trig, where participants can enjoy the spectacular views as they catch their breath before a fast descent to the finish.

Fell Running Rules and Safety

The race will operate under the Fell Running Association's Rules for Competition and participants must comply with the "Runner's Rules".

Participants are required to wear shoes suitable for fell running, and should arrive at the race with the 'FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit' and be prepared to wear or carry it during the race. Depending on the weather conditions on the night we may relax some or all of these requirements:

  • Waterproof whole body cover (with taped seams and integrated attached hood),

  • Hat

  • Gloves

  • Map of the route

  • Compass

  • Whistle

  • Emergency food.

Other useful FRA safety information includes the "First on Scene" and "Hypothermia" leaflets, although we obviously hope not to need these on the day.

More information about the Fell Running Association (FRA), including how to join, is available HERE. Membership is just £16 per year and includes lots of benefits.
